Slider Rating

[Pro+] Participants rate one or more dimensions on a sliding scale — for example scoring each of Porter's Five Forces from 0 to 10. Each participant sets a value per slider on their own device, and the display draws one track per dimension with a marker at the room's mean and a shaded band covering one standard deviation either side — the consensus and the disagreement in a single picture.

When to use it. Slider ratings suit alignment and confidence checks: how confident is the room in this plan, how do we score each option against our criteria, where are we on a 0–10 maturity scale. Results are deliberately facilitator-only while the activity runs — participants never see live results on their own devices, so early submissions cannot anchor later ones. Everyone commits to a number independently; then you reveal the display and discuss the spread.

Configuration options:

• Activity Title — e.g. “Five Forces score”.

• Sliders — 1 to 10 sliders, one per dimension. Each has a label (e.g. “Competitive rivalry”), optional low and high end labels, and its own Min, Max and Step (0, 10 and 1 by default). Use “+ Add another slider” to add more.

• Allow comments — participants can add one optional comment (up to 500 characters) with their ratings. Comments appear only on your facilitator surfaces and can be AI-summarized (see “AI integration”).

Running it live. Activate the activity like any other. Participants get one slider per dimension, starting at the midpoint, with a value pill showing their current setting; they set each slider, optionally add a comment, and submit. Submitting again updates their earlier response, so people can revise until you deactivate the activity. On the display, each dimension's mean marker moves as responses arrive; from 2 responses, a shaded band shows ±1 standard deviation, with the mean, the standard deviation (σ) and the response count under each track.

Reading the mean and spread. The marker is the room's average; the band is how spread out the answers are. A narrow band means genuine agreement — the average speaks for the room. A wide band means the average hides a split: two dimensions can share the same mean while one has everyone at 5 and the other has half the room at 2 and half at 8. The wide bands are usually where the best conversations are.

Exports. Slider results are included in the session's Download exports (see “Download and export options”): the Excel export adds a sheet per slider activity with each dimension's mean, standard deviation and response count plus every participant's individual ratings and comment, and the PDF and PowerPoint exports redraw the tracks, bands and markers as they appeared on the display.
